Note on the Concept Sheet

Self-image influences how people see themselves – and how they act. However, it is often unconscious beliefs that shape our self-esteem and our decisions. This is exactly where LiLea's self-assessment board comes in: It makes personal perceptions, strengths, and doubts visible, creative, and interactive.

The high-quality wooden board measures 35 x 23 cm and features eight finely engraved symbols. Each symbol – without being named – represents a possible area of life such as self-worth, relationships, security, or personal strength. Below each symbol are five milled-out sections into which the total of 40 maple wood game coins can be placed.

Clients interpret the meaning of the symbols themselves and assess how strongly a theme is currently present in their lives by placing the coins. This method of self-assessment through haptics and visualization creates new access to inner processes – be it in coaching, psychological counseling, or therapeutic self-discovery.

The flexible assessment framework is particularly effective: whether on a scale of 1–5 (e.g., 1 = little, 5 = very pronounced) or with individual meanings – the tool can be effortlessly adapted to the target group and setting.

Self-assessment boardwith 8 engraved symbols for free interpretation by the users
40 game coinsmade of smooth maple wood (5 coins per symbol, leaving open what they can symbolize): Heart, Clover(luck), Arm(symbol of strength), Mirror, Lightbulb(resourcefulness), Relationship(friends/family/strangers/etc.), Power,Protection/ Security
5 milled pockets eachunder each symbol for placing the coins

Freely selectable evaluation system (e.g., 1–5, school grading scale, weighting by importance)

Ages 14 and up

A 35-year-old client comes to psychotherapy feeling constant exhaustion and inner emptiness. Her self-worth is strongly linked to performance, and emotional needs often go unnoticed.

The therapist uses the Self-Image Boardto give the client intuitive access to her inner experience. Without predefined meanings, the client interprets the symbols herself:

Mirror= Self-criticism

Protective symbol(two people under an arch) = Security

Clover= Hope and confidence

Arm= Performance ability

Distribution of coins:

Mirror (self-criticism): 5 coins
→ “I constantly judge myself. Nothing is ever good enough.”

Protective symbol (security): 1 coin
→ “I hardly feel safe – neither in relationships nor within myself.”

Clover (hope): 2 coins
→ “There is a little hope, but it feels very delicate.”

Arm (performance): 4 coins
→ “I function well – but it costs me an incredible amount of energy.”

Conclusion: Reflection & therapeutic added value:
The distribution of coins shows at a glance: self-criticism is overwhelming, while basic emotional needs like security and hopebarely get any space.
The board makes this internal imbalance visible and discussablewithout needing to be precisely articulated verbally right away. This empowers the client to take her own needs seriouslyand gradually build emotional security.

35 cm x 25 cm, t=19 mm
